Seattle has a very vibrant and joyous Obon Festival and it brings me back to my childhood. To me, Obon season was about food, dancing, and seeing friends and family. Now it’s turned into a time of self reflection and remembering those who have come before me. We dance to honor our ancestors,as they visit us under the lanterns, hoping to give peace, and maybe bring joy to to those here and not here as well.
